This Southern California Wedding in the hills of Calabasas was extra special to me because Kailey is my cousin!
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life!! It’s a day that you’ve likely been dreaming about for years! If you’re anything like me, you are planning every detail to perfection. However, despite all the planning, sometimes things don’t go exactly as expected. That was the case for Kailey + Eugon who had planned their dream wedding in Southern California on the beach in Malibu.
In California you have to get a permit to have a beach wedding 3 months on the dot ahead of time! So that’s what they did! They stayed up all night to get their permit for Malibu! Only to get a call the DAY BEFORE their wedding saying that their permit was for a completely different area and that a film crew for a movie would be at the spot they had originally wanted… An actual nightmare!!
They were able to have their whole ceremony at a beautiful ranch up past Calabasas and ended up being a dream!!
Kailey got ready at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills with her closest people! This wedding was extra special because Kailey is my cousin!! Her and Eugon met in South Africa when Kailey was studying abroad and they moved to New York City to live! They have family in Southern California so they decided having their wedding in California would be best! They are going to be having a big wedding next year in South Africa!
I have a couple tips for you when it comes to needing to pivot on your wedding day!
Have a backup plan: Always have a backup plan in case of unexpected changes! Whether it’s due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances! It is so important to be prepared!!
Stay calm and flexible: When changes happen, it might be hard but stay calm and trust your vendors to help!. Remember that you can still have the best time even if things don’t go exactly as planned!
Communicate with your vendors and staff: Work closely with your vendors and staff to come up with a plan that works best for you! It is your wedding day and we want the absolute best for you! We are there to make sure your day is as special as possible.
Focus on what’s important: Remember that the most important thing is that you’re getting married and celebrating with your people!! Don’t let unexpected changes overshadow the joy of the day!
